Giving your characters biases is a pretty good way to humanize them... though it is pretty easy to mess it up. Eventually Suzanne's biases were going to be addressed and given context in the original run but I never quite made it that far in the series.

Today, Suzanne Incirrina's bid to become a marine biologist is derailed when she develops the super power of octopus-like arms coming out of her back. Now, she'll be catapulted into the action and mystery of the super human world.
