Shingen Yamagata
Shingen Yamagata
Age: 36
Occupation: High School Teacher
Spouse: Helena
Children: Kiri
Likes: Reading, family, manga & anime, crime dramas,
s’mores, world history, brunch, baseball, summer,
smoking when no one's looking, curry, anything Kuro cooks
Dislikes: camping, house chores, cooking, divorce,
long drives, traffic, Kuro’s pranks, Geoffrey
Shingen is a neurotic but impulsive dependent type with
a slight case of hypochondria. As a teenager, he fell head
over heels for a japanese-american girl visiting family in
japan. He ventured to America in pursuit of true love,
only to find himself divorced with a young son. He then
jumped into a second marriage with that also ending in
disaster, after taking in the Shimizus who had followed
him to the States. All hope seemed loss until he met
Helena, his actual true love (hopefully? Maybe?).
Despite his psychological flaws, Shingen is incredibly
caring and loyal to the people he considers family. Even
though Kuro has pushed him past his limits emotionally
(and possibly ruined his marriage) there isn’t anything he
wouldn’t do for the man he calls brother. As a father,
Shingen makes lots of mistakes, but he loves Kiri and does
his best to put his needs first, as well as Yoshiko, who he
fondly considers one of his own.
